I'm writing this now when I should really be in bed! But, as promised, I'd like to show you what I've been up to today at my client's house in Clapham.
The ground floor (reception room and kitchen) needed to look a bit more homely - I had to work around existing furniture as well as buying some more. Together with lots of accessories to bring the space to life.
I did some homework:
And I had so much fun, mixing up all my favourite candles (check out the Bella Freud's "Fairytale of New York" - you can see some American references around the house, as the family is currently living between London and NYC) with great pottery from Anthropologie and super soft blankets from Zara Home. And I couldn't have done it without a quirky shopping spree at Rockett St George (linked below), from where I got the side tables.
And I love this mini white basket from Brissi:
With only less than a week to get all the shopping done and approved by the clients, this is probably the quickest makeover I've ever done. But totally worth it, as the rooms are now full of warmth and character.
I love mixing old and new, bargain items and special buys. Good design isn't always super expensive. You just need to know what to buy.
I'm now really excited about phase 2 - with a few more changes in the kitchen and new looks for the bedrooms, this house will be the perfect family home.
I'd love to hear your comments. Get in touch and let me know what you think!
